U12 Challenge matches v Danesfort – 24th April 2014

Report by Martin Delahunty

The U12 team had their first run out of the season on Thursday evening when Danesfort visited with a strong squad of 17 players. Numbers is certainly no issue with this group as we have 27 players registered for the year ahead.

The hurling started off with 2 small-sided games with all the boys playing and both sides produced some great passages of play and some fine scores. The Blue Team, led by Oisin Egan proved too strong for their opponents and the White Team, led by Eoin Delahunty put in a strong 2nd half performance to level the scores late on.

To finish the evening both teams fielded 15 players to play two 15 min halves, with all the boys getting game time. This game produced an exhibition of hurling from both teams that was appreciated by all the vocal support from the line. Two well taken goals by John Muldowney gave the locals a lead which they never looked like giving up and they ran out comfy winners on a score line of:

Graigue-Ballycallan 3-2  Danesfort 2pts

Scorers John Muldowney 2-1 Oisin Egan 0-1 Kevin Ging 1-0
