U16 Hurling League Round 3 – 01/05/14

Last Thursday saw the meeting of GBC and Lisdowney in the under 16 hurling league. Both teams had two wins out of two, so it was all to play for.

Lisdowney were fastest out of the blocks and GBC couldn’t match their pace and intensity in the first half. After 30 minutes the score was Lisdowney 2-7, GBC 0-3. Graigue Ballycallan had left themselves a daunting task for the second half. They rallied well initially, with points from Jamie Lawlor and Dylan Lanigan, but a goal from Lisdowney’s influential full-forward, mid-way through the half, put the result beyond doubt.

On their day, this team has great potential, but May Day certainly wasn’t their day. No doubt they will take a lot from this disappointing outing as they face the final round of the league and the championship approaches.
