Minor Hurling League Roinn A v Tullaroan – 02/09/15.

Whether at under 6 or senior championship, a tie between GBC and neighbours Tullaroan always brings an added air of anticipation and excitement. It was no different on the second day of September when these age old rivals met in the Minor Hurling League in Tullaroan.

The visitors were on top from the outset with well-worked goals in the 4th, 11th and 13th minutes from Jamie Lawlor, Ciaran Hogan and Sean Ryan, giving GBC a nice lead at such an early stage GBC 3-1, Tullaroan 0-1.

A point each from Jamie Lawlor and Colum Prendiville as well as three from Sean Ryan stretched the GBC lead. The half time score was GBC 3-7, Tullaroan 0-4. Conor Flynn at full back and Eamonn Egan at centre back were dominant in this half, while Shane Hennessy and Killian Egan were on top in mid-field. Colum Prendiville won a huge amount of possession on the half forward line and distributed the ball well.

In the second half the lads took up where they left off and in the seventh minute Ciaran Hogan bagged his second goal. The cheer of the night went to Joey Brennan when he blasted GBC’s fifth goal to the net in the late stages. Bill Cuddihy denied Tularoan a consolation goal near the end with a good save, to leave the final score GBC 5-9, Tullaroan 0-8. This was a spirited team performance from a group of players who have more potential than they might think.
