Intermediate camogie Quarter Final 24/9/17

Well done to the intermediates who beat St.Anne’s/Emeralds in the championship quarter final on Sunday 24th September in Galmoy. St. Annes/Emeralds were the first to start off the scoring when they scored a point from a free in the first minute.

Full forward Sarah Dunphy scored a fine point from play in the third minute which put the girls on the scoreboard. Laureena Murphy then converted a free two minutes later which put the girls a point ahead. In the 9th minute the opposition were awarded a free but the ball dropped into the St. Brigid’s goal. From the puck out there was a foul made and St.Anne’s/Emeralds were awarded another free which they put over the bar. Corner forwards Kym Ryan and Maire Doheny put themselves on the scorers list with a point each from play in the space of two minutes. Savage work from the St. Brigid’s backs meant the ball stayed in their half and an opportunity opened for Kym Ryan to head for goal and she slammed it into the back of the net, putting the girls ahead by a point. Midfielder Laura Hennessy then added to this when she won the puck out and put the ball over the bar with seventeen minutes gone. St.Anne’s/Emeralds converted two more frees and a point form play which left them a point ahead with five minutes to go. Aisling Dunphy leveled the sides with a point from a free coming into the closing minutes of the half but again the opposition came through and answered with another point. Eimear Keoghan finished the scoring in the first half with a superb goal to put the girls in the lead. Half time score 2-6 to 1-7.
St.Anne’s/Emeralds were again the first on the scoreboard in this half but Eimear converted a free to cancel it out, this was repeated in the following three minutes but Eimear again converted a third free. Serious work from St. Brigid’s midfields and half forward line meant the ball found its way to Sarah Dunphy and she rattled the back of the net putting the girls six points ahead after eight minutes in the second half. Eimear converted another two frees but St.Anne’s/Emeralds came back into it with another four points, three from frees. This put the girls ahead by one point with four minutes to go in normal time. An effective position change bringing Caoimhe Murphy from corner back to half forward paid off as she scored the next point and Eimear finished it off with another point. Full time score 3-14 to 2-14.
