Report by Martin Delahunty

Graigue Ballycallan U14s finished a very busy week with a long journey to Pearse Stadium in Galway to play in the Regional Féile Finals. An early start for all when the bus wheeled out of Tom Ryall Park at 8am sharp, with the girls gathering to play their Féile in Dublin.
The day involved two games against Kilmacud Crokes and Loughrea with the top of the group to play out a final against the winner of group 2. The Graigue boys were missing a few key players due to injury and holidays but 19 eager players togged out in the impressive rooms of Pearse Stadium. Read more

Declan Byrne Memorial Tournament – Sunday 12th June 2016

Report by Martin Delahunty

The annual U14 Declan Memorial Byrne Tournament took place on Sunday last in Tom Ryall Park. This was the first time the tournament was held on a Sunday and it proved to be a massive success.

A huge amount of preparation was put in by all over the 3 weeks leading to Sunday but they suffered a setback late on Thursday when one of the participating clubs had to withdraw. The U14 management approached a half dozen clubs but unfortunately none were available to fill the void. The decision was then made for the locals to field 2 teams in order for the Tournament to run on its original format and what a master stroke this proved to be.

Graigue Ballycallan competed in the Roinn A Hurling Feile Qualifiers on Saturday morning in Ballyhale. They produced some of their best hurling of their year so far to beat Tomastown 3-8 to 2-1,  O’Loughlin’s 1-10 to 2 points and finishing all square with Mooncoin 1-5 to 2-2.  This put the boys top of their qualifier group and set to play James Stephens in the Feile Semi-Final in Clara at 12.30pm on Sunday. A great achievement for all involved with GBC being the only country club to qualify for the Semi finals.

U14 Hurling League Round 1 – GBC v Mooncoin – 15/04/2016

Report by Martin Delahunty

Graigue Ballycallan U14s got their league campaign underway on Friday 15th April 2016 when Mooncoin visited Tom Ryall Park . Our boys were very slow to settle on the night and the southern boys marched into an 8 point lead without breaking their stride. It took a few scores from the hurls of Oisín Egan and Paddy Brennan for the boys to finally realise they were in a game. The half time whistle blew with the scores at 2-4 to 6 pts in favour of Mooncoin. Read more

U14 Challenge Matches

Report by Martin Delahunty

The U14s played two Challenge matches over the last seven days in preparation for their first round Roinn A League game against Mooncoin on April 15th.

On Bank Holiday, Monday they welcomed near-neighbours Callan to Tom Ryall Park and put in a great display with all panel players getting game time to put up a fine score to impress their mentors and get the 2016 campaign up and running.

This led onto a challenge against the mighty James Stephens on Friday evening on the Kells Rd and again the local boys showed their intent with great attitude in difficult weather conditions with 20 eager players anxious to claim their place.

The boys will train hard over the next fortnight and are looking forward to a few busy months ahead with 4 league games and a qualifying Feile weekend with it. Best of luck lads.
