Under 16 Hurling League Round 4

Report by Bill Cuddihy

Graigue Ballycallan’s U-16 team recently returned to winning ways over a stern Slieverue side in Tom Ryall Park, Kilmanagh. A determined G.B.C  began in good form following a number of tough training sessions and challenge matches. The teams started trading scores from the throw-in before G.B.C began to take control scoring 1-3 without reply with Geordan Davis scoring a fine goal and a point to leave the scoreline standing at 1-6 to 0-3 in favour of the Kilmanagh side. U-16 camogie vs Muckalee

St. Brigid’s vs. Muckalee
Venue: Tom Ryall Park
Date: 07/07/14
Score: St Brigid’s 0-6
Muckalee 1-2

The game took place on a dull, wet evening and to start, both teams were contesting well. The game went without a score from both sides until well into the first half, a goal came for Muckalee after a free was taken and found the St. Brigid’s net, an unlucky score to concede. There were a number of hard fought battles in the St. Brigid’s full forward line and the girls were kept out by a strong back line for Muckalee. Read more

Intermediate camogie all-county league

Well done to our intermediate camogie team who won the 3rd round of the all-county league on Wednesday night 2nd July. The opposition were James Stephens and the girls had home venue. Injuries and other commitments meant there was only a panel of 15 available for the night.
It took a while for the girls to get into their stride but the points came and two goals followed from Amy O’Connor and Laureena Murphy with great play-making from Bernie Ryall. There was great work from all over the field and this meant they led at half time with a score of 2-05 to 1-03. Read more

Minor camogie championship

Minor B St. Brigid’s vs St. Anne’s
Venue: Galmoy
Date: 30/6/14
Referee: Anthony Costigan

St. Brigid’s went into this game on the back of two wins from two games, but short a number of key players.

From the outset St. Anne’s stamped their authority on the game, and while Brigid’s tried hard it seemed that most of the possession they won, they gave straight back with poor passing. Read more

Féile Peil na nÓg – Good Luck Laoise!

Best of Luck to Laoise Prendiville who is part of the Kilkenny City girls football team heading off to Connacht for the annual Féile Peil na nÓg this weekend. The girls will be hosted by Claregalway GAA club.

We wish them all the best as they try to complete the 3-in-a-row. The city girls won Division 3 in 2012 and won Division 2 in 2013 and will compete in Division 1 this year. Laoise was part of the 2013 squad and it would be a wonderful achievement to bring back a second Féile football medal to the parish.
