U-16 camogie vs Muckalee

St. Brigid’s vs. Muckalee
Venue: Tom Ryall Park
Date: 07/07/14
Score: St Brigid’s 0-6
Muckalee 1-2

The game took place on a dull, wet evening and to start, both teams were contesting well. The game went without a score from both sides until well into the first half, a goal came for Muckalee after a free was taken and found the St. Brigid’s net, an unlucky score to concede. There were a number of hard fought battles in the St. Brigid’s full forward line and the girls were kept out by a strong back line for Muckalee. The girls finally got their first score of the first half from a free taken by Eimear Keoghan and soon another two points followed, from Siún Corcoran and Eadaoin Murphy. The score was 0-3 to 1-0 at half time.
A very wet second half followed for the girls but they fought hard in what was a very physical game. Both sides worked extremely hard to earn their team a score, Muckalee picked up two points but St. Brigid’s kept it level with a point from Niamh O’Connor and another from a free, again taken by Eimear Keoghan. The intense final minutes were put at ease when Eimear Keoghan scored a point to put the girls in the lead. Some great saves from Katie Brennan kept us in the game along with the last ball blocked down by Lisa Hogan. The scoreline remained tight for the second half but great work across the field from each player helped the girls to come out the winners with a final score of 0-6 to 1-2.
