Well done to Billy O’Neill (U15), Bill Guiry (U11) and Cormac Neary (U13) who all won their respective categories in the Skills competition held on Sunday 22nd November 2020. They will all now go on to represent the club in the county finals in early December and we wish them the very best of luck in that!

U15 A County Final 5/9/2020 – Match Report
The Graigue Ballycallan U15 team recently lined out against James Stephens in a much anticipated County Final. Both teams were the teams that showed the best form throughout the year and when they met in the group stages earlier in the year the town team prevailed by the narrowest of margins after probably the best game of the season.
Very little has separated these teams over the last number of years with the locals beating them by 2 points in a Féile Semi Final last year. Read more
Hurling Updates: U13, U15 and U17 training update
The GAA have announced a roadmap to recommencing training and games and this includes U13, U15 and U17 Championship. The club are working through the details at the moment and we are currently planning to go back training on the week of 29th June 2020 and will train on Monday, Thursday and Saturday evenings. We hope lots of our players have been doing some hurling and physical work over the break but if anyone needs a plan over the next 2 weeks we have attached a strength programme below based on bodyweight exercises. This includes You Tube videos of the correct technique. If any player would like to start some aerobic work, a good target would be to run 1km three times a week at a steady pace. All this work will prevent soreness/stiffness and injury when we get back to the field.
Strength Programme for U13, U15 and U17 players
We have also included here a handy booklet on Sports Nutrition for teenagers when they are training which may be useful. safefood-Teen-Sports-Booklet
We look forward to being back on the field and enjoying the 2020 season.

U13 Report 2019
Our U13’s competed in Roinn B in both Football and Hurling in 2019. We returned to training last February under lights in Loreto Astro turf, then returning to Tom Ryall Park in late March. We used the Football League to give game time to all the panel while getting ready for the Championship in April. We lost to Glenmore 4-6 to 3-2 in the opening round. Most of the panel enjoyed an extended run with St. Aidan’s school team which brought them to a Quarter Final in Roinn B and a Semi Final in the Country Cup.
Our league campaign ran from mid June to end of July. We were very competitive in all our matches, winning two, drew one and lost four to finish mid table. We prepared well for championship over the next few weeks where we played a fancied Galmoy/Windgap side. Again this young team gave everything for the jersey but lady luck deserted the boys who bowed out on a scoreline of: Galmoy/Windgap 3-9, GBC 1-9.( We were short 3 players due to holidays)
U13B Hurling League 26/07/2019 – GBC V Piltown
GBC U13’s travelled to Piltown to play our final league game on 26th July. Again GBC got off to a poor start conceding 1-3 before we eventually got on the scoreboard after 15 minutes. Our backs began to get on top which allowed more possession for the forwards, both sides traded points for the remaining half . HT Score: Piltown 1-7, GBC 0-5. The 2nd half was evenly balanced when Piltown’s No.14 won possession on the edge of the square and sent an unstoppable shot to the net with 7 minutes remaining. At the other end Piltown’s keeper pulled off two point blank saves to deny us a goal. Overall Piltown were a stronger/balanced team and ran out deserving winners. FT Score: Piltown 2-13, GBC 0-11. U13 B Hurling League – 12/7/2019 – GBC v Glenmore
Round 4 of the Roinn B League saw Ggraigue Ballycallan take on Glenmore on Friday 12th in a sunny Tom Ryall Park. A minutes silence was impeccably observed prior to throw-in for the late Tom Brennan who’s nephew Martin plays with this team.
GBC started very well scoring 1-1 in the opening 5 minutes, a goal coming from Ben Young after a lovely handpass from Keelan Lynch. Glenmore responded with the next 3 points before Ben McEvoy won possession and crossed for midfielder Paidí Egan who raised the green flag to leave it GBC 2-1, Glenmore 0-3 after 15 minutes. Glenmore scored 2 points, before Ben Young buried a goal from 20 yards. Half Time GBC 3-2, Glenmore 0-6. Read more

U13 B Hurling League – GBC v Mooncoin
GBC U13’s played Mooncoin in Round 2 of the Roinn B League in Tom Ryall Park on Friday last 28th June. Again this young team came up against a bigger physical side but they refused to take a step back. Mooncoin opened with a pointed free but GBC responded with a well taken goal from Aidan Ging to go ahead early. It was end to end for most of the first half with both defence’s on top, in particular Ben McEvoy was excellent between the posts for GBC. After going 15 minutes without scoring, a late ’65 and a long range shot from No.6 Aidan Comerford dropped under the crossbar and gave GBC a lead 2-3 to 0-4 at Half Time. Read more

U13 Medal Presentation
Last Friday night, December 28th, our victorious U13’s were presented with their medals in Ballycallan Hall. In what was a great year for this bunch of hurlers, they won the Roinn A Country Cup in both Hurling and Football and the Cumann na mBunscoil Roinn A Final with St. Aidan’s NS. These boys were also very successful in the club competitions, winning the Roinn B Football Championship and the Roinn A Hurling Championship and the Lisdowney 7’s Shield.
They are the first county club to win the Tom Ryall Cup and it was fitting that members of the Ryall family were in attendance on the night. MC for the night, Club Charimain Dave O’Neill, presented all the players and Billy Ryan and John Byrne (Bord na nÓg Chairman) were on hand to present the medals and acknowledge their achievements.
