U10 Challenge matches v Dicksboro – 9/08/2014

Report by James Cahill

On a sunny Saturday morning Graigue-Ballycallan U-10 teams played four challenge matches against Dicksboro in Palmerstown. They were victorious in three out of the four games which is a great achievement against the city club. Each club divided their U-10 players into two teams.

In the first game James Casey and Martin Brennan opened the scoring for Graigue with two goals. Dicksboro scored 1-1. Billy Egan and Sean Roberts added points leaving the half time score Graigue-Ballycallan 2-2 Dicksboro 1-1. In the second half Sean Roberts put in his best performance of the year scoring 1-2 with two of these scores coming from midfield. Dean O’Brien finished up the scoring for Graigue with a well taken goal. Charlie Cleere was dominant at full back ably assisted by Billy Dowling, Pat Purcell, Jake O’Brien and Aidan Cahill. Ben Young was again very confident in goal.  The final score was Graigue-Ballycallan 4-4 Dicksboro 3-1.
This team then played the other Dicksboro team. Aaron McEvoy scored a point and the strong Billy Egan scored a fine goal from the 20 metre line leaving the half time score Graigue-Ballycallan 1-1 Dicksboro 1-2. In the second half Dean O’Brien was on fire scoring 2-1 and helped James Casey score another goal. Billy and Ryan Cody won the midfield battle. Billy Egan and Aaron McEvoy added a point each leaving the score Graigue-Ballycallan 4-4 Dicksboro 1-2.
