Sat 25th April GBC U10 White Team travelled to Castlecomer for their first Go Game. Great credit must go to James Brennan and Ryan Cody who both agreed to play one half each with Comer which ensured all the boys got a full game.
Jake O’Brien opened the scoring with a point before Jeff Neary goaled. Castlecomer responded with a goal but GBC finished strong with goals coming from Jeff(3) and Jake(2). The GBC defence of Sean McGrath, Billy O’Neill, Pat Purcell and Dean O’Brien were solid throughout and limited the number of scoring chances Castlecomer got.
In the second half, GBC continued to dominate with James, Jake and Cillian Hoyne controlling midfield. Up front Sean Dillon, Sean McGrath, Martin Brennan and Jeff Neary were all eager to get on the ball. More scores came from Jeff(2-1), Dean(1-0), Jake (2-0), and Martin(2-0). Comer managed to break the GBC defence scoring 3 goals, all coming from Ryan Cody.
To finish we played 15 mins of football which finished level. Next Saturday we play Thomastown in Kilmanagh. Well done boys.
