U-12 camogie news

Match Report by Stephen Delaney

Last Saturday 22nd August our u-12s entered into the Rena Sheridan Memorial Cup after a late call on Thursday evening after a team from Wexford pulled out. Delighted with the invite they started the day against The Village and won the game after a very strong second half display.

Next up was Dicksboro and the girls, even though they had a lot of possession, found themselves trailing at half time. The girls roused themselves at half time and put in another brilliant second half and managed to grab a share of the spoils. The final group game was played versus the host club, O’Loughlin Gaels. Again the girls started sluggishly and found themselves trailing early in the first half. Knowing they needed a victory to earn a spot in the final, the girls started to play like possessed women and put in a super performance. They put their opponents under pressure all over the pitch and eventually came out on top.

In the final they played Dicksboro, with whom they drew with earlier in the day. The determination the girls showed from the start was a credit to themselves, their tackling was top class as was their use of the sliothar when in possession. They ran out winners against a very good Boro side, knowing full well they may meet again in the county championship. All in all the coaches were delighted with the run out as a good warm up for the upcoming county semi final.
