St. Brigid’s Camogie Club AGM 13.02.16

The AGM of St. Brigid’s Camogie Club was held on Saturday the 13th January in the clubrooms in Kilmanagh. It was attended by players, members and parents. Thank you to everyone who attended.

It began with a welcome from Chairperson Josie Ronan and an acknowledgement of those who had passed away in the last year. A minutes silence was had for Paul Harrison and recently deceased President of the club, Billy Malone and a thank you card from the Malone family was read out to all present. The minutes from last year’s AGM were read out and proposed and seconded. Josie then gave the Chairperson’s address which recognised all of the hard work by members in fundraising throughout the year, at the 80’s night in Langtons, the Annual Camogie Tablequiz, the Piltown draw, the Score forecast for the All-Ireland, bag-packing and Whist Drives. Carmel Brennan, Secretary of the club, then listed the achievements of each of the club’s teams over the year and also those of members on teams from schools, colleges and at county level. She also thanked all trainers and parents for their commitment. The treasurer’s report was then handed out and examined by each member. Ideas for the following year in regards to training and fundraising were also discussed. The committee for the upcoming year was then elected as follows:

Patrons: Fr Moran and Fr. Buckley
Presidents: Billy Neary, Tom Walton, Maura Comerford, Breda Ryall, Nora Murphy, Mai Murphy, Galacia Ryall and Jackie Hanley.
Chairperson: Ann Ging
Vice Chairperson: Bronagh Neary
Secretary: Carmel Brennan
Assistant Secretary: Helen Murphy
Treasurer: Mark O’Brien
P.R.O: Emma Boland
Club Registrar: Denis Nolan
Health and Safety officer: John Caldbeck
Committee members: All of the above as well as Mary Dunphy and Anne Boland. It was also suggested that one trainer from each age group would be on the committee. A finance committee was also suggested and John Cahill was elected to it.

It is always great to see new fresh faces getting involved in the club and we thank those who volunteered to help for the year. We aim to continue the great work of last year’s committee and that it will be an even better year than last. Thank you very much to our outgoing officers Nicola Butler, Caitriona Lanigan and Amy O’Connor for all of their work throughout the year.
A special word of thanks to the brilliant Josie Ronan who also stood down as an officer, who for the last 16 years always put 100% into the camogie club and kept it running. From everyone in the camogie club thank you for all your years of dedication and effort.

We hope that 2016 will be even more successful than the year gone.

From all at St. Brigid’s camogie club we would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the late Billy Malone. Billy who presented our Minors and Intermediates with their medals in November was an absolute gentleman, one of the camogie club’s presidents and most loyal supporters. He will be greatly missed by all of us on the sideline.
