On Sunday 24th September the Club was privileged to hold the Annual Billy Fennelly Memorial U12 tournament. We had four teams competing our, own GBC boys, Young Ireland’s, Dicksboro and Ballygunner of Waterford. There was four cracking games with GBC beating Young Irelands on a score line of 2-8 to 2-3 while in the other Semi-Final Ballygunner prevailed in extra time over Dicksboro in an epic Semi Final.
Then it was our boys turn to take on the Waterford boys … Having beaten them twice during the year we knew the final would be tough. Ballygunner started very strong with an early goal but the GBC boys hung tough and stormed into the game with two second half goals and secured a hard earned victory in a pulsating final on a score line of 2-4 to 1-5. Another fantastic victory by this young team.
Young Ireland’s went on to beat Dicksboro in the Shield Final. Well done to all involved… We would like to thank the Fennelly Family for their continued support of this tournament.
