School’s Hurling – Country Cup

Thomastown NS   5-8
St. Aidan’s NS Kilmanagh  0-3
St. Aidan’s bowed out of this year’s Country Cup after a hardfought contest against a decent Thomastown side in Tom Ryall Park. The home side started well with a fine long range point from Oisín Egan but Thomastown were soon into their stride with 2 well worked goals and led 2-3 to 3 points at half time. The away side flew out of the blocks in the 2nd half and rattled off a few scores to put the contest beyond reach. St Aidan’s never gave in and battled bravely to the final whistle. Great saves by keeper Jack Walton and with Stephen Keoghan, JJ Ryan ,Kevin Ging and Luke Cullen clearing their lines on countless occasions, these battles will stand to them throughout the season. Scott Lawlor, Oisín Egan and Paddy Brennan put in spirited displays in the forward lines.
Scorers: Oisin Egan 2pts, Paddy Brennan 1 pt
