St. Brigid’s U16’s are enjoying a great year to date with some excellent performances over the past few months. The girls have been training since last February starting with one night a week in St. Patrick’s School on Kells Rd. Here plenty of hard work, foundations and plans were agreed to perform in the Roinn A League. Training and matches were the order of the day during the months of March, April and May. The girls playing in Roinn A are well aware that 2018 is going to require a huge effort as all teams have ambitions. Read more

U12 Camogie League v Tullaroan 23/7/18

The most recent outing for our U12’s was played in Tullaroan on Monday the 23rd of July. Unfortunately we turned out with only 13 girls but all credit must go to these girls who gave it their all against a strong Tullaroan side. They battled bravely and gave Tullaroan nothing easy but sadly Tullaroan were too strong for us on the night coming out the winners. Onwards and upwards now though as our focus turns to a quarter final in three weeks which we are all looking forward to. Date, Time and Venue of the quarter final TBC.

Report by Bridget Brennan

Our U12s were in action in the Camogie League v John Lockes in Callan on Thursday evening last 12th July. A brilliant performance was put in by all our girls and at the half time mark it was a draw match with everything still to play for. The sun continued to shine down in the second half and we continued to play with great skill and brilliant determination. It was a tough tight tussle between two evenly matched sides and at the end they could not be separated on the scoreboard. The final score was St. Brigid’s 0-9 John Lockes 0-9. Well done to all our girls, they never gave up right to the final whistle. Our next match is against James Stephens at home in Kilmanagh on Wednesday the 18th of July.

U16 Camogie League v Glenmore 11/7/18

Our U16s took on Glenmore in the latest round of the Camogie League on Wednesday the 11th of July in Kilmanagh. This was a tough and physical battle against a formidable Glenmore side. After a slow start for St. Brigid’s a well taken goal courtesy of Claire Doheny brought them to life. Both teams remained evenly matched throughout the second half and it took another goal, this time from Reece Delaney, to ensure victory for the St. Brigid’s side. The girls deserve great credit for the way they battled throughout showing tremendous skill and effort to come out on the winning side. Final score: St Brigids 2-9 Glenmore 1-9. This victory now sees St. Brigid’s through to the U16 A League final v Thomastown, date time and venue TBC. Well done girls!

Senior All-County League St. Brigid’s v Windgap – 8/7/18

Our Senior camogie girls took on Windgap on Sunday July 8th with an away game in the All-County Lleague. St. Brigid’s dominated for the duration of the game and took the lead with a point in the first minute. From there they pushed on and scored every two to four minutes in the first half. Our backs played well throughout the game and kept the Windgap scores to a minimum, their first point coming in the 30th minute just before the whistle. Half time score 3-10 to 0-1. U12 Camogie League v Gowran 7/7/18

Report by Bridget Brennan

We were all down in Gowran on Saturday on a very hot sunny day for our second League game. Our girls put in a superb performance in the first half, among the highlights were some brilliant saves by our goalkeeper which kept us ahead by a goal at the break. The second half started off great, again some excellent play by all girls right across the pitch. Sadly the heat got too much for us and we finished on the losing side on this occasion on a scoreline of Gowran 4-8 St. Brigid’s 4-1. Great credit has to go to this excellent group of girls who put on an brilliant display in the very warm conditions. A big well done to all to the parents and we are all looking forward to our next match. Onwards and upwards!
