Intermediate camogie league -2nd round

Our intermediate camogie team took on Danesfort in the second round of the league last Sunday 3rd May in a cold and windy Tom Ryall Park.

St. Brigid’s started off the scoring when Aisling Dunphy converted two frees in the 1st and 5th minute. Danesfort had a strong wind and scored 1-2 unanswered. The backs fought hard with Eimear Keoghan and Caoimhe Murphy doing trojan work up their sideline. Eadaoin Murphy slotted over a point and was soon answered with a point for Danesfort which was to be their last of the half thanks to the St. Brigid’s backs. For the last 13 minutes of the 1st half the girls dominated the scoreboard, recording a further 1-3, Laureena Murphy finding the net with 10 minutes to go. Half time score was 1-7 to 1-3 to St Brigid’s.
The girls came out with renewed hunger in the 2nd half and put away 2-5 in the 1st 15 minutes with no score from Danesfort, Bronagh Neary and sub Niamh O’Connor with the goals. Danesfort saw a gap in the St. Brigid’s defence and rattled the net in the 46th minute. Anne Marie O’Brien and Aisling each put a point over but again dis-organisation in the St. Brigid’s backs left Danesfort through for a third goal. Sarah Dunphy and Marie Doheny both found the goal in the 50th and 51st minute sealing the deal for the St. Brigid’s girls on a day where all forwards and midfields scored. Full time 5-15 to 3-5.
