Senior Camogie team are Leinster league champions!

Congratulations to St Brigid’s Senior Camogie team on a resounding victory over near neighbours Danesfort in the Leinster Camogie League Final on Sunday 8th April 2018. In Danesfort, the local officials did a great job to make the pitch playable. A fine first half by St. Brigid’s (Graigue Ballycallan) was vital to their victory. Midfielder and joint captain Laura Hennessy gave a Player of the Match performance and grabbed a vital goal in the opening half. Laureena Murphy and Caoimhe Murphy chipped in with two and three points apiece. Kym Ryan and Therese Muldowney were also on target. For Danesfort, goalkeeper Aoife Walsh was outstanding and a goal before the break by Laura Dooley gave them hope.
To be fair they gave a great account of themselves in the second period with Rachel Phelan showing some nice touches at midfield as well as three pointed frees. Captain Deirdre Phelan bravely returned to the action after suffering a heavy knock in the first half. Olivia Mahoney, Caoimhe Doyle and Megan Walsh showed well for this young side. But the Graigue girls has a greater physical presence and managed to keep tipping over the points to hold their half-time advantage to the finish.
