U12 Go Games Round-up

GBC first U12 Go Games fixture started on an away trip to Young Ireland’s on Sat 25th July resulting in a loss after the lads started well. Young Ireland’s just had that bit extra in front of goal. 
For first time teams from Co Laois were entered into Kilkenny GO GAMES, next up for GBC was the visit of Abbeyleix to Tom Ryall Park. This was a very entertaining match, the two teams were well matched and it ended in a good win for GBC.

U11 Trip to Cork – 1/8/2015

On Saturday 1st August the GBC U11’s travelled to Blackrock in Cork for the Ger Dineen Tournament, having being invited by Joe Young. This was a two team tournament with the winners decided on combination of all results.
First up for the boys were the hosts Blackrock. Team Blue started brightly with Jeff Neary opening the scoring with a point, Eoin Egan followed this up with two goals. The boys lead at half time 2-2 to 0-1. Team Blue continued to dominate the second half and gave a great team performance scoring freely and ran out easy winners. Read more

Lisdowney Sevens – Saturday 25 July 2015

Our U13’s took to Lisdowney on Saturday the 25th of July in perfect hurling conditions for the annual Lisdowney 7’s Tournament. Our first round game saw us meet a strong Dicksboro side. A keenly fought first half meant  scores  were at a premium, with the ‘Boro opening  the scoring before Oisín Egan and Paddy Brennan put GBC one point up. Paddy was unlucky to have a goal disallowed before the half time whistle. Discksboro got the final score of the half to leave it 2 points a-piece at half time. Read more

U12 Go Games – 25/07/2015

First round of Go-Games started on Saturday morning 25 July 2015, GBC travelled to Young Ireland’s GAA grounds with weather conditions perfect for hurling. These two teams were well matched in the first half. Gowran opened the scoring early with a goal, Gowran dominated early exchanges and were  two goals up after 7-8 mins. GBC got more into the game and were rewarded with a well taken goal by Tom Brennan. Gowran responded with a point (2-1) – (1-0). Playing on the half back line Billy Egan collected the ball went down the pitch and scored a excellent goal. On the half-time whistle GBC were down 2pts (3-3)-(3-1) GBC looked in a good position to take the win.

U12 CHALLENGE MATCH V O’LOUGHLIN GAELS – 7/5/2015

Next up for GBC U12s was the challenge of O’Loughlin Gaels. O’Loughlins started strongly and were 1-1 after 6-7 mins. GBC got on the score sheet through Tom Brennan (1-1) and Finn O’Byrne (1-0). With Oisín Conway in great form in goal, Jake Acerman, Conor Walton and Patrick Foley on the full back line, man of the match Jack Butler at centre, Billy Dowling and Shane Comerford on the wings O’Loughlins found it hard to break through. U12 CHALLENGE MATCH V ST. LACHTAINS 1/5/15

GBC u12s travelled to Freshford on Friday evening 1st May for their first challenge match of 2015. GBC put a excellent display of hurling. St Lachtains went in at half time in front (1-3 to 1-1).The lads upped their game in the second half running out winners at the final whistle

U12 Geoffrey Croke Tournament, Ballingarry 9/11/2014

Graigue Ballycallan U12’s travelled to Ballingarry on Sunday last to compete in the Geoffrey Croke Tournament. The boys played their first game against the hosts and this turned out to be the match of the day. Ballingarry opened the scoring early with a point from a free but our lads began to dominate with the midfield pairing of Oisín Egan and Scott Lawlor launching ball after ball in to the forward line. U12 HURLING NEWS

The U12 panel finished up their 2014 campaign with a visit to James Stephens Kells Road venue on Sunday morning 12th October to play the Andy Egan Tournament. We had a near full turnout with 24 boys togging out on the morning, this gave a difficult task to the mentors, as the games were played over only 24 minutes with 12 players a-side.  Read more

U12 Conahy Tournament 2014

Graigue Ballycallan U12 boys competed in the Jim Comerford Conahy tournament over the last 2 weekends. They were drawn in a group of 4 and played games against Bennettsbridge, Blacks and Whites and O’Loughlin Gaels. The boys put together 3 outstanding performances on the morning and beat all 3 teams convincingly. What impressed the coaches most was the first touch, great interlinking and hugely impressive finishing skills of all players. This meant that our boys topped their group and headed back to Conahy on Sunday to play Lisdowney in the semi final.
