U12 champions

Congratulations to our fantastic U12 team who were victorious in their mini-league final on Tuesday 24th September.
They faced John Lockes, who they had beaten earlier in the year, in what turned out to be a great game of camogie in Windgap in poor weather conditions. The girls were against the wind in the first half and the teams were close throughout with some great battles on every part of the pitch. All forwards and midfielders put in great effort to keep possession of the ball and to keep the scoreboard ticking over. The backs did well but Callan fought back with some lovely scores of their own but they were to be their last. Half time score was 3-3 to 3-2 to the St. Brigid’s girls.
In the second half we were a different team and dominated the half. Some fine scores were taken and the backs were like a walled defence keeping Callan scoreless throughout. All members of the panel got onto the field of play during the game which finished with the girls as the champions!
Final score 8-7 to 3-2.
Team and scorers:
Isabella Coen, Grace Delahunty, Georgina Casey, Chloe Teehan, Molly Conroy 0-2, Emma Marnell,
Emily Tynan 1-0, Siobhan Kenny 0-2, Tara Cody 0-1, Joanne Brennan, Katie Ronan 5-2, Nicola Kenny 1-0, Kate Purcell 1-0, Roisin Foley, Sarah Brennan, Shannon Comerford, Annie Dunne, Alina Dunne, Sophia Malone, Ella Cody, Ruth Purcell, Mollie Guiry, Eimear Cormack, Charlotte LaBrooy, Millie Moloney.
It was a truly deserved win due to the determination and work rate the team have put in all year. They won every challenge game, blitz and mini league game they played so have finished 2019 as unbeaten champions. Quite the record!
Thank you to all the parents for bringing the girls to training and matches and to those who supported the girls throughout the year. The girls are a credit to you all. Thank you to the management team who have put in many hours of work this year in facilitating these girls to play to the best of their ability.
Thank you to the camogie club for providing beautiful training tops for the girls and to Carpet Options for the treat to McDonalds after the game. Here’s to 2020 and a very bright future for St. Brigid’s!
