U10 Hurling news – March 2015

photo 3 Our U10’s return outdoors to Kilmanagh Saturday 28th March having completed four weeks indoor training in Wallslough. The boys showed little rustiness as they worked on the basic skills and speed during the four weeks. We look forward to a successful year ahead with plenty of training/matches being organised over the coming months.
Thanks to coaches Ger, Philly, Niall, Billy, Willie and Nicky for their commitment to the boys.

Under 16 Hurling League B Final, 30/11/14

Our gallant under 16s continued their winning ways in Bennettsbridge on Sunday when they overcame a good Clara side to complete the league championship double. After a tense start, the sides were level at 2 points each when in the thirteenth minute Dylan Lanigan put some space between the sides. He was first to react when a long delivery broke and his goal gave the impressive Clara keeper no chance. Aaron Brennan was in good form from play and frees and Davy Maher’s tireless work was rewarded with a nice point from play before half-time to leave just a goal in it, GBC 1-5, Clara 0-5. Read more

Under 16 B Hurling League Semi-final, 23/11/2014

There was a frosty coating on the grass under the flood-lights in Piltown on Sunday evening last as GBC under 16’s took on Kilmacow in the semi-final of the under 16 league. Colum Prendiville’s hard work was rewarded with an early goal and Aaron Brennan put over seven excellent points from a combination of well-taken frees and play. Colum Prendiville and Geordan Davis also pointed, before Dylan Lanigan goaled late in the half, leaving the half time score GBC 2-9, Kilmacow 1-2.  Read more

U12 Geoffrey Croke Tournament, Ballingarry 9/11/2014

Report by Martin Delahunty

Graigue Ballycallan U12’s travelled to Ballingarry on Sunday last to compete in the Geoffrey Croke Tournament. The boys played their first game against the hosts and this turned out to be the match of the day. Ballingarry opened the scoring early with a point from a free but our lads began to dominate with the midfield pairing of Oisín Egan and Scott Lawlor launching ball after ball in to the forward line.
